Joshua Hupper ’04

Joshua Hupper graduated from Kent State University in 2004 with a degree in Fashion Design. Hupper says his love for skateboarding and skater style is what led him to pursue a career in fashion design. During his time at Kent State, Hupper interned at Diane von Fürstenberg. In 2010, Joshua Hupper started BabyGhost with cofounder Qiaoran Huang. As the name suggests, BabyGhost is a celebration of opposing forces like new (baby) and old (ghost). The brand layers pieces and plays with proportion in a way that is always effortlessly cool. Since its inception, the edgy brand has used ecommerce to appeal to a younger generation. The streetwear brand is based in Shanghai and has grown a cult following in both the US and China, thanks to its perfect blend of American and Chinese design aesthetics. BabyGhost has quickly become a favorite brand for Chinese supermodels like Xiaowen Ju, Liu Wen, and Ming Xi. In 2020, Hupper appeared on Amazon Prime Video’s Making the Cut.
